Ocean Ruffle - peyote bead weave, shell, sterling

A beadwoven coral reef with a ruffle of frosted white, silver and ivory seed beads edges this bracelet. A woven ocean of aquamarine and sea green seed beads forms the base. A sterling silver starfish, freshwater pearls and a shell add some interest along the ocean "bottom". Beadwoven coral and a sea urchin hang out on both ends of the bracelet. I wove gaps into the bracelet to add more interest and a bit of randomness. I purposefully used irregular seed beads for a bit more randomness - the ocean is not an even or symmetrical place.

The woven ruffle was the start for this bracelet. I saw it in the August 2009 copy of Beadwork. I really wanted to use those green/blue seed beads so I started weaving, leaving openings in the weave here and there. When I got to the ruffle I had to change it up a bit. The ruffle in the magazine didn't really look like coral so I modified the weave to get the look I wanted. It turned out great! There are definitely more woven ruffles in my design future.
